Child Abuse

In the year ending March 2019, The Crime Survey for England and Wales (CSEW) estimated that approximately 8.5 million adults aged 18 to 74 years experienced abuse before the age of 16 years. This is equivalent to 20.7% of the population aged 18 to 74 years. *

Children are often the silent victims of sexual, emotional, psychological racial and/or physical abuse.

Our dedicated team can help you claim compensation from the individual or organisation responsible.

Confidentiality is assured at all stages of your matter as we understand that the subject of your claim is delicate.

Claims Against Public Authority

We are often consulted in cases where a child has been abused whilst in the care of a local authority.  This can have followed abuse at home, with the child being removed from their home and then suffering abuse at their local authority placement. This can also occur with fosters carers or whilst in the care of others responsible for the care of that child.

Recent developments in the law have resulted in a change to the way in which these cases are investigated. Our team is well versed in advising clients on these changes and how this affects their case.  They are adept at keeping up to date with any changes which may affect their clients in the future.

We have specialists who regularly deal with different types of abuse claims. They have acted for a large number of abuse victims.

Our abuse team believe very strongly in providing a voice for victims of abuse. They are prepared to fight for compensation that matches the traumatic experiences these victims have endured.

We recognise that compensation does not take away the suffering of these individuals. We do believe that it can provide some recognition that what was done to them was wrong.  This is a particular challenging area of litigation which requires specialist representation. We have a number of lawyers who are well versed in the issues that arise in such claims and are prepared to deal with them head on.

If you believe that you have been the victim of abuse and would like further advice on your options, we can help. Our team will discuss your options with you in a sensitive manner whilst ensuring that you are comfortable with how the case progresses. Historic Abuse

In such cases, an individual  may have suffered abuse a long time ago. For example, they may have suffered abuse as a child but had not be able to acknowledge the abuse or deal with it until many years later.  Our team of professionals are very well experienced in dealing with cases like this which can be often hard fought and lengthy.

Our specialist team have been handling claims of this nature for almost two decades. They have advised in notable matters such as the Jimmy Saville litigation and in the Shirley Oaks Abuse cases.  Members of our team have also been involved in a number of abuse inquiries.
